Sitting in her bed, curled up, Mei-Rin tried to calm down. No, she could not get sick now, not now, there were so many things to be done… and she had left the guest in the corridor, having told him she needed to go to the bathroom…
With a quiet groan, she fell down onto the pillows, and that was when the door opened and said guest stepped in.
“It’s… it’s alright,” she forced a smile, looking at him, deciding to continue the lie, so he would not worry. “I just… I guess I’ve eaten too much…”
“Who said I am not feeling well,” she muttered, trying not to show her lie and how embarrassed she was. Lowering her sight, she tried to ignore the closeness between them. They definitely should not be so close to each other…
“Besides, I am not pushing myself too hard. I am doing less than usually… and normally I don’t rest in the middle of the day,” she noticed, wrapping her arms around herself.
“Yeah yeah, you rest there I’ll go find some medicine for you.” Kenji smiled as he brushed the bangs off the woman’s face, revealing her forehead. He knew that she was avoiding him, Kenji thought that he might have been too invasive and backed off to give the woman some space. “I’ll be back alright. Don’t go fainting on me.”
{❤️}; Himeros suddenly pulls out a chair beside the male and smiles.
“Mind if I join you? Or were you reserving this seat for someone else?” He asked the other male with a charming smile and a gentle look in his eyes.
“Oh no I’m not waiting for anyone. Please do.” Kenji gestured to the seat next to him and quickly drank his whiskey. The man caught him off guard so to hide his surprise, he downed his glass as a cover, not thinking that he might get drunk later.
The morning sun kissed the ground with a touch of light. Enoki stretched and got herself ready for the day. She took the week off from work for a much-deserved break. “Mmmm, I wonder who’s gonna be at the bar today.”
Attending that cesspool of alcohol and perverted eyes was her secret guilty pleasure. She got dressed in a casual black tank top and tight blue jeans, and made her way to the bar, right at 10:00 am.
The noise of heels clacking on the floor annoyed Kenji, but he
couldn’t blame his fellow male waiters for their inexperience. As soon
as he swapped shifts with his friend, the door of the bar swung open and
a young woman dressed in dark clothes entered.
“Welcome!” Kenji spoke in the friendliest terms he had ever been “Would like to sit at the bar or a table?”
It was the dreaded moment. It was coming. That dreaded instruction… Heart pounding at the mere thought of romantic interaction; So gross.
“You may now kiss the bride,”
The words chimed and rang - an audience pensive and waiting. Why on Earth was this a custom?
Attempting to mouth an objection, her gaze flickered between the registrar, the crowd and finally onto Kenji. Widened, frightened eyes reluctantly watched on at the scene. Desperately, with her eyes - she begged her arranged marriage partner to not put her through such embarrassing shame.
Please.Don’t.
It was a joyous celebration, getting to be a part someone’s life… how wonderful of an event can it be? Or not. As Kenji signed his name on that cripsy piece of paper, a yawn came from behind. It was his younger brother. Well, he couldn’t blame him as he was attending his brother’s wedding, an arranged marriage to boot.
As soon as the formalities were over, the dreaded moment came. He had to kiss the ‘bride’ or in his terms: to seal the deal. One look at his future wife and Kenji knew she was uncomfortable. Kissing a stranger? That’s easy for Kenji but a friend and not to mention one that he knew for decades? Incomprehensible.
“How did things even end up like this?” Kenji whispered as he lifted Joy’s jaw, ready to approach.

The maid had asked him to wait outside, but sensing something was
wrong Kenji quietly hid his footsteps with the maid’s, making sure she
won’t notice him following from behind.
Upon entering a
dimly-lit room, Kenji found the maid to be quite short of breath and her
cheeks flushed with pink. Sighing he crept up the bed and placed his
forehead on hers, checking her temperature.
“Oi, oi, if you’re not feeling well Mei-Rin you shouldn’t push yourself too hard.”
